About the Role
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is a State Corporation established under the Energy Act 2019. The Authority is the energy sector regulatory agency responsible for economic and technical regulation of electric power, coal, renewable energy and petroleum subsectors.
The Authority is seeking to recruit suitably qualified, experienced, result oriented and highly motivated Kenyans to fill the following vacant position.
Vacant Position
- Director General – Reference: VA/1/8/2026
Key Responsibilities
- Providing strategic leadership and direction in line with the Authority’s strategic plan.
- Oversee the technical and economic regulation of energy sector utilities.
- Guide the regulation, monitoring and supervision of upstream petroleum operations.
- Provide oversight in regulation and production of renewable energy.
- Foster a culture that promotes good governance in the Authority.
- Ensure proper internal monitoring and control systems in the Authority.
Qualifications
- A citizen of Kenya.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, law, finance, environmental studies, economics or energy.
- At least seven (7) years management experience at a senior level.
- At least two (2) years of experience in petroleum and energy.
- Professional qualification and membership to a professional body, in good standing.
- Fulfilment of the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya (2010).
