About the Role
Machakos County, nicknamed ‘Macha,’ was the first capital city of Kenya and is now an administrative county in Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluating patients to determine if surgery is necessary, interpreting tests (labs, imaging), and explaining risks and benefits.
- Performing a broad range of surgeries, including hernia repairs, appendix removal, gallbladder removal, bowel obstructions, and cancer removals.
- Acting as first-line surgical help in emergencies and managing acute injuries or conditions.
- Providing follow-up care in the ICU or hospital ward, ensuring patient recovery, and managing surgical complications.
- Utilizing laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques for faster recovery times.
Requirements for Appointment
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Masters in family medicine.
- Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.
