About the Role

Malindi Water and Sanitation Company invites qualified, proactive, and results-oriented individuals to apply for the position of Occupational Health and Safety Officer.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 3 years working experience OR
- Diploma in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years working experience.
- Professional certification from a recognized body (NEBOSH, IOSH, or NITA/DOSHS-accredited OHS training).
- Practical knowledge of OSHA 2007, EMCA regulations, and water/sanitation sector safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor occupational health and safety systems across all utility operations.
- Conduct routine hazard identification and risk assessments in accordance with OSHA 2007, WIBA, and related subsidiary legislation.
- Ensure compliance with EMCA (1999), NEMA regulations, WASREB guidelines, and County sanitation bylaws.
- Develop and review OHS policies, SOPs, emergency response plans, permits-to-work, and confined-space entry procedures.
- Conduct staff and contractor training on workplace safety, chemical handling, biological hazard prevention, and safe FST operations.
