The Production Technician / Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment while supporting plant maintenance activities to ensure continuous and efficient manufacturing operations. The role requires technical expertise in mechanical maintenance, welding, fabrication, plumbing, and troubleshooting of production-related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
- Operate production equipment efficiently to meet manufacturing targets.
- Monitor machine performance and ensure smooth production flow.
- Perform routine machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments as required.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform TIG and Arc welding for equipment repairs and fabrication.
- Conduct fabrication and metalwork as needed for production and maintenance activities.
- Service centrifugal pumps and geared motor drives.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment to minimize downtime.
- Implement preventive maintenance practices to enhance equipment reliability.
Plumbing & Mechanical Systems
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems within the production facility.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are functioning optimally.
Qualification and Experience
Education
- Craft Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a production or maintenance role.
- Hands-on experience in welding (TIG and Arc), fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience servicing pumps, geared motor drives, and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
